OceanGrafix Partners With Panama Chart Agent To Offer NOAA Charts
ST. PAUL, Minnesota – May 8, 2007
OceanGrafix announced today that Islamorada Internacional in the Republic of Panama has signed on as an OceanGrafix chart agent. As a result, Islamorada can supply the full line of National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/National Ocean Service (NOS) charts to vessels entering the Panama Canal.
Under the agreement, Islamorada can print charts containing the very latest cartographic data for deep-draft, SOLAS-regulated vessels. “The largest share of trade through the Panama Canal is traveling between the Far East and the East Coast,” explains Jason Critides, director at Islamorada. “Working with OceanGrafix, we now have the ability for our NOAA charts to reflect the very latest Notice to Mariners changes so that vessels can use them prior to arriving at a U. S. port.”
“Our computers are in constant contact with NOAA databases to gather the Notice to Mariners changes,” says Dave DeGree, president of OceanGrafix. “Islamorada’s new remote printing capability allows them to print charts as they’re ordered, so they can offer the most up-to-date NOS charts while not having to keep quickly outdated charts in stock.”
Located on the Panama Canal, Islamorada is ideally positioned to provide products and services to ships in transit through the Isthmus, as well as to other countries throughout the region. Because of its strategic location, the company is able to provide fast delivery of charts and other important products to ships calling on ports throughout Latin America and the Caribbean Basin.
St. Paul, Minnesota-based OceanGrafix is the first company to offer print-on-demand nautical charts for recreational and commercial boaters. Working in partnership with NOAA, the company ensures the most accurate information available is reflected on its charts. No other navigational tool gives boaters more confidence.
