OceanGrafix Charts Display Latest Oil Spill Area in Gulf of Mexico
OceanGrafix has been working closely with NOAA since April 20, when the Deepwater Horizon oil rig sank in the Gulf of Mexico. With an estimated 19,000 barrels of oil per day still gushing into the Gulf, NOAA is working non-stop to update nautical charts so they reflect the latest oil spill projections. In turn, OceanGrafix is retrieving this information so that its print-on-demand charts reflect spill conditions--helping to ensure safe navigation.
The spill currently impacts four NOAA charts (11340, 11360, 11006 and 411), which are now being updated three times each week.
