Ronnie Babin brings wealth of boating experience
OceanGrafix, the first company to offer print-on-demand nautical charts, announced today that Ronnie Babin has been hired as national sales executive. He will be responsible for all sales-related activities.
Babin brings 30 years of marketing, sales and sales management experience in the marine industry. He has experience with manufacturers such as Charles Industries and Schottel, Inc., with distributors such as Donovan Marine, and with multi-facility retailers such as BoatU.S. (now West Marine) and Boater’s World.
A life-long boater, Babin has navigated the Gulf of Mexico while living in New Orleans and Houston, and a large part of the Atlantic Ocean while living in Florida. He also has participated in racing and officiating in APBA Offshore Powerboat Racing.
“Many recreational boaters suffer from a misconception that paper charts are no longer essential,” explains Dave DeGree, president of OceanGrafix. “Smart boaters know it is never wise to rely on just one means of navigation. Part of Ronnie Babin’s responsibility will be to help boaters understand the vital role paper charts continue to play when it comes to safe navigation.”
St. Paul, Minnesota-based OceanGrafix is the first company to offer official NOAA print-on-demand nautical charts for recreational and commercial boaters. Working in partnership with NOAA, OceanGrafix ensures that the most accurate NOAA-based cartographic information available is reflected on its charts.
