The passage is one of the principal channels leading into Sonda de Vieques. The principal entrance to Puerto de Humacao is from S through an unmarked channel leading W of Bajo Parse and Bajo Evelyn; small vessels can enter from N. At the W end of Isla de Vieques, S of Punta Arenas, there is a smooth anchorage with E winds but exposed to the S and W.
