| Description: | Matagorda Bay is a large body of water separated from the Gulf by Matagorda Peninsula. Depths in the bay range from 5 to 13 feet, averaging 10 to 12 feet over the greater part. Considerable oil development and fishing are carried on in the bay and its main tributaries Tres Palacios and Lavaca Bays. |
