| Description: | Matagorda Bay is a large body of water separated from the Gulf by Matagorda Peninsula. Depths in the bay range from 5 to 13 feet, averaging 10 to 12 feet over the greater part. Considerable oil development and fishing are carried on in the bay and its main tributaries Tres Palacios and Lavaca Bays.
Tres Palacios Bay, about 6 miles N of PalaciosPoint, is a shallow bay on the NE side at the center of Matagorda Bay. |
